Titwala, 29 April:
The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has once again taken decisive action against illegal construction in Titwala, a region increasingly under the spotlight for unapproved real estate developments. In a major crackdown on Monday, the KDMC A Ward office demolished 167 cement concrete foundations and three ready-built illegal rooms in the Balyani area.
This move is part of KDMC’s ongoing efforts to curb unauthorized structures that violate building regulations and endanger both the environment and public safety.
The anti-encroachment operation was carried out under the supervision of Pramod Patil, Area Officer of KDMC’s A Ward. The demolition targeted cement slab foundations that were being laid illegally for residential structures. In addition to the foundational work, three fully constructed rooms that were allegedly built without required approvals were also taken down.
Despite facing resistance from local citizens, the municipal team successfully carried out the operation, ensuring legal protocols were followed throughout.

The operation continued for several hours and highlighted the civic body’s seriousness about tackling illegal developments in urban and semi-urban pockets like Titwala.
Over the past few years, Titwala has seen rapid real estate growth due to its affordability and proximity to Kalyan, but with that has come a surge in unauthorized construction. From illegally built chawls to flats constructed without building permissions or clear titles, the area has become a concern for city planners and legal property buyers alike.
KDMC has been receiving multiple complaints regarding illegal activities in and around Titwala, with Balyani becoming a frequent target for such unlawful developments.
For genuine homebuyers and investors, this development serves as an important reminder:
Always verify RERA registration before buying a property.
Check with local municipal bodies for building approval and land ownership records.
Avoid buying homes built on disputed or unapproved land, no matter how attractive the price.
Illegal construction not only leads to legal trouble but can also result in eviction, financial loss, and safety hazards.
The KDMC’s recent action in Titwala is a bold step toward restoring order in one of the most affected zones of unauthorized construction. While it may have caused disruption for some, it ultimately aims to ensure that urban development in areas like Titwala is safe, legal, and sustainable.
As the strike against illegal construction continues, both buyers and developers are urged to act responsibly and follow the law to avoid serious consequences.
